Registration and Payment. Please note the following:

1. Paid up GSA members for 2011/12 will receive a discount. Delegates who join the GSA at the conference will be eligible to receive a discount for our conference in 2013 (see 3).
2. Accommodation will not be available on the university campus but rooms are available in two hotels very close to the campus at special, low rates negotiated by the university. Alternatively, youth hostels exist less than a mile from the campus.

   The two hotels near to the university and with which MMU has special arrangements are: Holiday Inn Express, 2, Oxford Rd, Manchester M1 5QA (0871 423 4878) and Ibis Hotel, 96, Portland St. Manchester M1 4GX (0161 234 0600). Please not the following regarding booking rooms in thes hotels.

   (a) Altogether we have booked fifty single rooms. These will be reserved until June 4th and absolutely no later. Any reservations not claimed by conference participants by that date will be cancelled and you will need to then make your own arrangments -probably at higher prices.

   (b) To reserve one of these rooms you MUST do so through Paul Kennedy – not directly through the hotel management. We have had to sign contracts witht these hotels in order to secure these reservations. So you need to send him (p.ke...@mmu.ac.uk) your full name, the dates you wish to stay and your credit/debit card details – which will be give to the hotel in the normal way. The hotel requires your card details in order to claim back part of the tariff in the event that your decline to stay at the end.

   (c) Staying on days prior to the conference or afterwards may also be possible – just let PK have the details.

   (d) Please note, however, that you are entirely responsible for actual payment when you stay at the hotel. Neither the conference organizers nor MMU will be in any way liable.

   (e) The hotel rates special are as follows: Ibis, £58 for each night including breakfast; Holiday Inn, £55.20 for July 5th and £71.20 for July 4th and 5th – including VAT and breakfast. These prices, negotiated via the university, are consideraly lower than normal prices.

   For the local youth hostels close by, contact, Manchester Youth Hostel, Potato Wharf, Castlefield, Manchester, M3 4NB (0845 371 9647). But you need to book well in advance. Alternatively try Hatters Hostels, 15, Hilton St, Manchester M1 1JJ (0161 236 4414) and at Newton St, You can contact them online: http://www.hostelworld.com. Then click UK and Manchester and/or Hatters Hostels. Prices range from £10 per night to £25 for a single room and shared bathroom.

3. Non-GSA members are invited to join the association separately on arrival at Reception, and at special first-year discount rates depending on seniority. Full details concerning the benefits of membership – including free access to the journal with which the association is closely association – is available on arrival and on our website.
4. Special rates for postgraduates are available.
5. A daily rate for participants is available with or without attendance at the conference dinner (*). This is either applicable to those who join the conference on the second entire day or for those who attend for both the half days (day one and day three).

What is included in your conference fee:

1. Conference pack
2. A booklet containing the conference abstracts, (this will also be available online)
3. Two lunches
4. Coffees/teas/juice and biscuits at regular intervals
5. The conference dinner on the second evening
6. Wine/juice introduction on first evening
7. We hope to also arrange a visit to a local place of interest during one evening
